HighWay
by Julian Weber

Julian Weber (Germany) is a choreographer, dancer and visual artist whose works function at the intersection of performance, dance and visual arts. In HighWay a single figure, a lost tourist, a mountaineer is exposed in an empty museum searching for grip. The ropes that connect the body to the surrounding architecture provide both support and restriction. The singular body shifts between states of power and surrender, effort and rest, volume and flatness. While architecture, interior and frames are drawn out of their comfort zone, body-parts and sounds occasionally amplify and emancipate the spectator into shifting the space.

Concept/dance: Julian Weber; Music/performance: Martin Hiendl, with music by Alvin Lucier, Edward Henderson and Martin Hiendl
