M (2013)
By/With Michelle Rizzo
M is an ongoing project by Michele Rizzo started in 2012, which constantly renew itself and shape-shifts according to context. In his poem I’m not I Juan Ramon Jimenez says graciously: “I am this one walking beside me whom I do not see, whom at times I manage to visit, and whom at other times I forget; who remains calm and silent when I talk, and forgives, gently, when I hate, who walks where I am not, who will remain standing when I die.” Regardless of how it is approached by different people and cultures, the definition of the self is an endless preoccupation of the human being. In M, Michele Rizzo approaches this ontological issue through an articulation between installation, performance and sculpture. The work is an investigation of the power of image and its creation, where performing appears as a way to live one character of a fluid entity, or, on the other hand, to embrace its pure potentiality.
